Token and Paid Plan Terms

Article 1 (Tokens)

Tokens are the unit used to access cloud processing in the App.

Tokens are consumed by the following processing:

1. Read-aloud with a cloud high-quality AI voice.
2. Cloud AI Scan (processing that turns the text recognized from a photographed page into prose prepared for read-aloud).

Read-aloud with the standard voices processed on the device (Apple TTS), text recognition (OCR), on-device translation, and offline AI Scan do not consume tokens.

Tokens have no monetary or other proprietary value.

Article 2 (Token grants)

Tokens are granted in the following cases:

1. Subscribing to a paid plan: per billing period, 900,000 tokens for Pro, 300,000 tokens for Standard, and 80,000 tokens for Light.
2. Purchasing a token pack: the quantity purchased (Article 5).
3. In addition to the preceding items, any grant we make free of charge: the quantity we determine.

Whether tokens are granted free of charge, on what conditions, and in what quantity are as shown in the App.

The number of tokens granted may change as set out in Article 7.

Article 3 (Consumption rates)

Read-aloud consumes tokens according to the number of characters read. The rate differs by voice engine: cloud high-quality AI voices consume either 1 or 2 tokens per character depending on the engine.

Cloud AI Scan consumes tokens according to the volume of processing.

The current applicable rates are those shown in the App.

Article 4 (Paid plans)

1. Pro is a monthly subscription. During the subscription period, you can use read-aloud with cloud high-quality AI voices without keeping an eye on your remaining balance.
2. To keep the service stable, Pro has a usage cap of 900,000 tokens per billing period.
3. Once the cap in the preceding paragraph is reached, read-aloud with the standard voices processed on the device (Apple TTS) remains available for the rest of that billing period. You can also purchase a token pack to continue using the cloud high-quality AI voices.
4. Tokens granted under a paid plan are reset each billing period, and any unused portion does not carry over to the next billing period.
5. Prices are as stated in the notation based on the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions. Subscriptions renew automatically. To cancel, go to "Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions" on your device and cancel by the day before the next renewal date.
6. Light and Standard are closed to new subscriptions. Existing subscribers may continue on their current terms until they cancel.

Article 5 (Token packs)

Token packs are one-time purchases. The quantity and price are 50,000 tokens for 480 JPY, 110,000 tokens for 980 JPY, and 300,000 tokens for 1,980 JPY. The current applicable prices are those shown on the App Store.

Tokens granted by a token pack do not expire and carry over to later months.

If tokens granted under a paid plan are available, those are consumed first, and token pack tokens are consumed afterwards.

Article 6 (No exchange or refund)

Tokens cannot be exchanged for cash, refunded, or transferred to a third party.

Returns and cancellations are not accepted once a purchase is completed.

For refunds relating to App Store payments, please contact Apple in accordance with Apple’s terms.

Article 7 (Changes)

We may change the consumption rates, usage caps, granted amounts, prices, and any other content of these Terms.

If a change is disadvantageous to users, we will announce the content of the change and the date it takes effect in the App or on our website in advance.

Article 8 (Expiry of tokens)

If you delete your account, or if your registration is cancelled under the Terms of Service, the tokens you hold expire. No refund is made for any unused portion.
